Blanket Drive
We are excited to announce that you donated over 200 blankets to help keep the homeless warm this winter!
Each blanket donated was paired with a Clothing Item and given to local individuals and homeless. They were served a hot meal and given more clothes gifts. It was a joy to present them with something to warm both their bodies and hearts this season.
Our team deeply thanks you for your hard work and sacrifice. We could not have done this without you and your generosity. We are grateful for you!

Adopt a Child
(Nehemiah Primary School)
Nehemiah Independent Primary School is a Methodist school in President Park, Midrand. It caters for learners around the communities of Ivory Park, President Park, Ebony Park, Kalfontein as well as areas within Tembisa.
Most of the parents in our school are either self-employed, domestic workers, or work in the tourism sector employed as cleaners and waiters etc. They have been terribly affected by the unfortunate circumstances that we find ourselves in, the COVID-19 Pandemic and as a result, about 75 learners were withdrawn from the school because of financial constraints.
The 75 learners were unable to find placement at any of public schools because most of the public schools have an average of 70 learners in a class.
Calvary Methodist Church is currently embarking on the Adopt a Child initiative.
This initiative aims to:
- Ensure that majority of the learners withdrawn the school are enrolled back into the school.
- Source sponsorship or funding for funds
- Restore the dignity of learners and parents
- Calvary Methodist Church offered to assist 10 children with schools’ fees for the 2021 academic year to the value of R 122 400.00. these funds are paid directly to the school account on 28 February 2021.
- Furthermore, the children are sponsored with food vouchers to the value of R500 per month over 12 months.
- We keep the doors of teaching and learning at Nehemiah Primary open for all learners from all walks of life.
The cost for adopting a child for the academic year of 2021 is:
- School Fees = R1020, 00 per month over 12 months which amounts to R12 240, 00 per annum.
Calvary Methodist Church believes that this initiative will benefit the learners, parents, teachers, funders, and the entire community. Education is the key for the social emancipation of every community and nation.
The adopted learners will benefit by getting an opportunity to learn in 2021, which will be beneficial for the school to keep its doors open for learning and teaching.
