Ash Wednesday marks the start of the 40 day Lenten period in which we journey with Jesus to Jerusalem and share in his suffering, often giving up and sacrificing an aspect of our daily lives such as meat or chocolate or television in order to grow in intimacy with God.
This year, each Wednesday in Lent will offer an hour-long worship service from 7p.m. in which we can spend time in prayer, in praise, and in listening to ways in which we can develop more Christ-like lifestyles:
18th February: Where do we turn for forgiveness?
25th February: Living more deeply in Christ
4th March: A season for tears
11th March: In all things, always seeking God
18th March: Choosing with Christ to love the world
25th March: In the service of peace
In addition, our fellowship groups will be exploring these (and other) themes more fully as they journey together through Thomas Merton’s “Bridges to Contemplative Living.” Should you long to be part of these life-enriching discussions, please contact the office so that we can put you in touch with the group closest to you.
